Having proven themselves among the country's elite in 2015, Georgian's Men's Golf team is headed to British Columbia for next week's University/College Championship.
The Grizzlies earned eight top-three finishes last year, capped by Matt Lemay's National Bronze Medal. Each of the five Grizzlies headed to Morningstar Golf Club are returnees and will be looking to get a jump on what is shaping up to be an exciting year. On top of the annual Grizzlies Invitational, Georgian will play host to the 2016 OCCA Golf Provincial Championship at National Pines Golf Club.
Twenty schools will be competing on the Men's side of things, twelve on the Women's. This will be the fourteenth playing of the championship, an event created to provide Canada's strongest university and college golfers an opportunity to compete in a national event. The Victoria Vikes play host, and Morningstar Golf Club has previously hosted the CN Future Links Pacific Championships and Canadian Women's Tour events.
Play gets underway on Tuesday, May 31 with the final round scheduled for Friday, June 3. The ten lowest scoring male teams will qualify for Friday's fourth round; individually, anyone within fifteen strokes of the lead will play out.
