The Georgian Grizzlies Golf team is headed to British Columbia for next week's CCAA National Championship, set to run Wednesday, October 14 through Friday, October 16.
The Grizzlies leave for the University of Fraser Valley playing their best golf of the year. The Women's team captured the programs fourth Provincial Championship in Niagara a week ago; Emilie Tyndall finished second individually to earn a silver medal and Cory Pond finished fourth.
The Men's team mounted an incredible comeback of their own, rallying for a six-stroke comeback in the third and final round to win Bronze and punch their ticket to the west coast. They were led by clutch performances from Matt Lemay (tied for twelfth) and Brady Zordan (tied for twenty-second).
Prior to Provincial's, the Grizzlies had already put together an impressive season. Georgian combined for eleven podium finishes in the years first three tournaments, including a Women's Team Championship and Emilie Tyndall's Individual Title at the Niagara College Invitational.
The Grizzlies are looking to build on the National success they've had over the past five years, medaling four times. Colton Kalkanis' consecutive Individual CCAA Gold Medals in 2012 and 2013 headline the program's achievements over the half-decade, and Georgian appears primed to compete with Canada's best.
Round one tees off at 8:30am at Chilliwack Golf and Country Club on Wednesday.
