Grizzlies Golf ready to open 2015 at Fanshawe Invitational

The Georgian Grizzlies Golf Team opens the 2015 season on Saturday when they travel to London for the Fanshawe Invitational.

The Grizzlies are looking to build on a strong 2014 campaign that saw both the Men's and Women's teams capture Provincial Silver Medals.

Leading the way on the Men's side will be returnee's Matt Lemay and Tyler Cameron; Lemay won three consecutive tournaments in his freshmen year, while Cameron finished an impressive seventeenth at Nationals. Head Coach Greg Hickey is excited by the development of Dan Knapp, who has stepped up as a team leader and exhibited consistent control, as well as newcomer Brady Zordan.

On the Women's side, veterans Chloe Wells and Corey Pond will look to take on leadership roles; both excelled at last year's OCAA Championship, finishing fifth and eighth respectively. Hickey highlights incoming freshmen Emilie Tyndall and Sady Beelik as a pair who could immediately make an impact.

Georgian will be looking to duplicate their success from the 2014 Fanshawe Invitational, when Tyler Cameron took home the Title on the Men's side and the Women finished second overall.

Play gets underway on Saturday morning at Forest City National Golf and Country Club.
