Georgian Athletics has made the leap into competitive esports by joining the Ontario Post-Secondary esports (OPSE) League of Legends league for the 2021-22 season, in partnership with the CyberGrizzlies, Georgian's esports club.
The Grizzlies will compete against 11 other Ontario colleges/universities in OPSE play. Ontario Post-Secondary Esports is a volunteer and student operated organization focused on integrating collegiate esports into the traditional post-secondary institution athletics system. OPSE provides an excellent engagement opportunity for our students, in particular with the in-person restrictions due to the pandemic. The high level gaming competition allows for our students to compete and watch & cheer on fellow Grizzlies, and is another way to build school spirit. Georgian Athletics is excited to be part of this significant and growing industry. For more information, visit opsesports.ca
Tryouts for the Grizzlies League of Legends team will take place on Friday Sept. 17 and Saturday Sept. 18 from 8 P.M. to 10 P.M. To register for tryouts, go to: cybergrizzlies.ca/teams
League play gets underway on Oct. 5 as Georgian takes on the defending OPSE champion University of Toronto Blues to kick off the regular season.
