WALLWIN COMPETING AT CANADIAN WOMEN’S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

Georgian Grizzlies women's golfer Addison Wallwin is participating this week in the Canadian Women's Amateur Championship hosted at Cutten Fields in Guelph, ON. The four round event starts on Tuesday, July 25 and runs through July 28.

Wallwin had a historic year for the Grizzlies last season winning the individual gold medal at the PING CCAA Golf National Championships. The Barrie native also led the women's team to gold at both the national and provincial OCAA Championship. She was named as a CCAA Academic All-Canadian, a CCAA All-Canadian and to the OCAA All-Ontario Team as well as being Georgian's Female Athlete of the Year for the 2016-17 season.

This spring she competed at the Canadian University/College Championships where she was Georgian's top placing golfer and earlier this month she competed at the Investors Group Ontario Women's Amateur Championship.

Wallwin will tee-off for her first round on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. You can follow along the results of the event at the Golf Canada website.

The Georgian Grizzlies 2017-18 golf season will begin on Saturday, Sept. 16 when the team competes at the Fanshawe Invitational at the FireRock Golf Club just outside of London, ON. Georgian will host an invitational tournament on Thursday, Sept. 21 at the Heritage Hills Golf Club in Barrie.

Tryouts for this year's men's and women's golf teams will take place in early Sept. and exact dates will be announced in the coming weeks at GeorgianGrizzlies.ca
